Watch Netflix w/ Me

If one were to look at my Netflix history and suggested content, one might think: 1) I’m a man, 2) I might be a serial killer.  I don’t have a robust list of romcoms in my queue, there is a lack of Reese Witherspoon, that’s for sure.  I try and dabble in “out of the box” material, but I always cut it off.  If I’m not into something, I can’t force it.

I go into a deep abyss of television shows, I’ve been working on Melrose Place for months.  But in between these giant commitments (the only commitment I can do at this point in my life), I need break times of nonsense comedy or a super emotionally charged documentary–my default material.

  • In my go to comedy category, as of late, looks like this: tons of stand-up, Arrested Development, Freaks & Geeks, The League, Workaholics
  • In my go to documentary category my topics include: sex trafficking/prostitution, serial killer profiles, gangs, drug addiction

I live a world of extremes, all this man comedy evens itself out in my brain with all these uber graphic docs.  I realized my water cooler talk at my  job has turned into “Ya so sexual predators are crazy gross…how are you?  Oh you watched The Voice last night?  That’s cool”  I’m that guy at work.  As a Sociology degree holder and a Scorpio born person, my mind just has a natural interest in some darker topics.

These documentaries satisfy one part of me, but horrible gross humor satisfies another part of me.  My sense of humor has always been a bit offbeat.  My mouth and what I deem funny is pretty much 90% inappropriate and so dry that if you believe what I say most of the time, we’re not friends.   When people really get to know me, they’re like “but you seem so put together and mature.”  I’m a fraud.  In my high school years, I was a bit of a quirky person (that’s a nicer way of saying weirdo).  I obsessed over SNL skits and left in tears after seeing Anchorman in the theater…whereas my friends were like “I don’t get it.”  I always have had a tough time being super friendly with tons of girls, I think watching and identifying with a Sex and the City character is as far as I can go (Miranda by the way).  When I crack a joke, I want to be welcomed with a high five, not a “OMG why would you say that!” Now that I’ve grown into a woman of the world, I OWN what I think is funny.  It’s a great way to weed out friends and a great tool to make fun of others when they have no idea.

I can’t curl up on the couch and watch Marley and Me.  I can’t watch endless amounts of Grey’s Anatomy.  I don’t want anything to do with Kate Hudson.  Why is Wings the TV show on Netflix?  Who wants to watch that?

All online dating websites and social media profiles shall peek into your Netflix, it would be a great time saver.
